UoS, NPCC sign pact on job opportunities

The UoS and the NPCC Sign an MoU to Provide Work Opportunities and Professional Training for UAE National Students

The University of Sharjah (UoS) and the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding that aims to support and provide work, training, and professional development opportunities for UAE national students. His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University, signed the MoU on behalf of the University along with His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Salem Al Dhaheri, Chief Executive Officer of the NPCC. Representing the University of Sharjah, Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, attended the signing along with Dr. Salah Taher, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, and Mr. William Matt Easdown, Vice Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs. Representing the NPCC at the signing were Mr. Salem Al Seiari, Chief Finance Officer; Ms. Duaa Hassan, Senior Human Capital Manager; and Mr. Sanjay Tripathi, Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications.

In his word during the MoU signing, Prof. Al Naimiy welcomed the attendees and expressed his pleasure in taking a step forward in supporting the University’s students by signing this MoU with the NPCC. He stressed that, due to the support and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University, the University of Sharjah has become a national platform that works to serve and develop the local community by graduating highly qualified and skilled professionals in the various modern scientific fields. He added that the University of Sharjah has become one of the pioneering and most prominent and comprehensive academic institutions in the country in terms of the number of students and academic and professional development programs offered, as well as the diversity of student and faculty cultures.

NPCC CEO Eng. Ahmed Salem Al Dhaheri stated that “NPCC is committed to providing career development opportunities for UAE national students through sponsorship opportunities, work placement and recruitment. UAE nationals are a key pillar of NPCC and the company offers them career, management, and leadership development programs. Our plan is to double the number of UAE nationals in next 5 years and this MoU with the University of Sharjah will give us access to the unique talent-pool of qualified UAE national students, who can contribute to the growth of NPCC and UAE’s economy.” He added “We are also looking for R&D collaboration and sponsoring graduation projects with the aim to overcome some of the challenges faced by NPCC. Our aspiration is to commercialize innovative ideas from this collaboration, which will help us in enhancing our efficiency and increasing our competitiveness.”
